His father was killed in the beginning of the war. Kevork was deported with his mother and brother. Near Surudj his brother was taken by some Kurds to their village.
The caravan has been attacked by Kurds and everyhting had been taken from them so they were hungry and had nothing to eat. Kevork's mother was obliged to give her son to a Kurdish wife in order to save him from hunger death. In this way he was separated from his mother and he never had any news from her.
Kevork lived four years with the Kurdish wife being her shepherd. He was ill-treated by her and so he went to another village near Biredjik. He was a farmer for five years and earned his daily bread.
Once he heard about Armenians in Aleppo, he desired to return to his nation. Some sheep merchants were coming to Aleppo. He went to them and asked to be admitted as a shepherd. They agreed, he worked on the road, once in Aleppo he left them immediately and came to us. Having nobody here and being unable to support himself we took him in.
