Garabed
was six years old, when he came on the road with his parents, elder brother, a
sister and thousands of Armenians. The poor people were driven in an unknown
direction and always exposed to the attack of the neighbouring Islam tribes,
who killed and robbed. By an by Garabed lost his dear ones, and he was erring
in the caravan untill one day an Arab lay hold of him and brought him to his
tent. The tribe was that time placed near Mosul. Garabed became a little
shepherd. He was left much alone with his dear sheep. Naturally his thoughts
went back to his earliest childhood and he was longing. Often he spoke Armenian
with his sheep for not forgetting his own language. Newly he came to Mosul with
his possessor. There our helper saw him, spoke with him and persuaded him to go
to Aleppo to our rescue-home.
Garabed went to live with his brother in Beirut.
Left our care: June 18, 1927. Relatives.
