The two girls Lydia and Maritza have
already suffered much although they are young. They both stayed in an orphanage
in Mezreh for several years. At the time of the deportation they had gone to
call on some friends in a village and they were deported with the people there
and went on the road to Deir-el-Zor. The caravan reached Mardin there they were
taken by some Kurds, who afterwards sold then to some Turks where they remained
for years and were treated as slaves. Recently, they succeeded in fleeing to an
Armenian priest, who hid them till he was able to send them to our rescue-house
in Aleppo.
Lydia
found her brother and went to Marseille to stay with him.
