PICTURE 13/1
Touma's family was living in Diarbekir and they were deported from there. At a distance of four or five miles from this town the caravan was attacked by Kourds and Tooma was taken to a Kourdish village. The man who robbed her from her relatives kept her six years, treated her as his daughter and married her afterwards.
Touma lived two years as his wife but she felt the desire to return to her church and to her nation, but fleeing was conneceted with good many difficulties. She needed somebody to help her. Her neighbour was an Armenian. She asked him to help her, and he did so. Tooma fled early in the morning to the Armenian's house. The man kept her a few days and sent her later by automobile to our Rescue-home.
