Misak’s father died before the war. He was exiled with his mother, grand-mother and aunt. The government gave to them only six hours to prepare themselves for the journey. They left all behind and came on the road with their bundle of food on their back.

On reaching Malatia each family forced to pay 10 Turkish pounds. This kind of robing was repeated several times, until they gave up the last penny. Near Kiakhta the men were separated and sent in another direction to make reparations for the roads … Passing near each village the beautiful girls were sold as taken away into Harems. His mother and grandmother died on the road. He with his aunt, reached Severeg where being taken by a Kurd to his house, worked 12 years without any recompense. He heard one day, that the brother of an Armenian girl in his neighbour’s house had promised to pay 20 Turkish pounds to the possessor of his sister, if he would allow the girl to rejoin her brother in Aleppo. Upon that, Misak himself thought to found some of his relatives in Aleppo, fled to Hassitshe, from there to Deir-el-Zor and by our agent was sent to us.
