When
Armenians were deported his parents were killed in their native town. He was
exiled with his sister as far as Mardin. After a few days rest they were sent
forwards. On the road a gendarm took his sister and returned with her to Mardin.
Sarkis hid himself in a bush and returned to find his sister but could not
succeed. He became the servant of a Turkish family and in this way earned his
daily bread. Sarkis never foget his being an Armenian. After eleven years he
fled to Hassitshe whence by our agent he was sent to Aleppo.
