Before
the wartime Markrid's father had gone to Constantinople on business. She
herself, her mother, sister and a brother were deported. They suffered on the
road from hunger, thirst and disease. Finally, the caravan reached Bab. Markrid
was there taken by the chief of the city, a Turk. She became his slave. Once,
when that man went to Aleppo with his whole family to celebrate a feast.
Markrid succeeded in slipping out of the house and succeeded in slipping out,
reaching an Armenian family, who advised her to go to our home. Markrid is very
happy to be in a safe harbour.
Left our care: June 23, 1927. Relatives, aunt Aleppo.
