Aram was exiled with the whole
family to Konia, then to Adana until he reached Deir-el-Zor. When they reached
there, the governor was not unkind to the Armenians but he was soon replaced by
another one, who permitted the Arabs and Tchetchens to attack and rob the
people. His sister was killed in one of those attacks, his parents were exiled
to Khabur and they were killed. He, himself, leaving his brother in Deir-el-Zor
went to an Arab tribe named Djeesh, where he lived eleven years among them as a
shepherd. One day being ill-treated he fled to Deir-el-Zor and met with our
agent who sent him to us.
