His
father had gone to America before the war. Manoug was deported with his mother
a little brother and a sister. The mother could not stand the sufferings on the
road and died. His brother and sister disappeared. An Arab brought him one day
in his tent and he stayed with his possessor twelve years as a shepherd and
labourer. One day he heard from our agent in Arabpounar that his father was in
search of him. He immediately left the sheep in the desert and went with the
