Sara's husband was a soldier in the Turkish army and died during the Great War.

When Armenians were deported, the Kamer people fled to the surrounding mountains and fought against the Kourds. There was fought during several weeks, but as the Armenians had no supplies and their food began to finish they were obliged to surrender themselves. The Kourds killed men, women and children, only a few of the nice women and children were put separately and taken to their villages, sold or married by Kourds.

Sara also was married to a Kourd. Six months after her marriage, Kourdish people also had to leave that region because the Russian army was occupying the region. She came with her husband to a village near Mardin and lived six years with him. Later her husband died. Sara was working in different Turkish houses in order to earn her daily bread. Among Turks and Kourds she heard about Armenians in Aleppo. She left her place and came to Aleppo hoping to find some relatives here.

She could not locate any relatives here and being unable to support herself she came to us.
