             He was deported with his family until Alia where his father, mother and two brothers were killed. Garabed was sent to a village near Mardin where he lived in a Turkish house for 7 years as a servant. During this period he lost his sight of one of his eyes (Somebody shot at him).

            In Mardin he heard that the Americans opened some orphanages in the biggest cities of Syria. At night time he fled from the Turks and started for Der-el-Zor. Arrived there he found his brothers in the environing villages. In an instance they were decided to go to Aleppo.

            After a walk of 10 days they crossed the endless deserts and came to us.

 

 

Garabed learned a trade and became selfsupporting. Left for America.
