Elmast tells us that she came on the
road with her mother. The caravan wandered to and from in the desert. One day
they reached a river. Elmast was tired and fell asleep. When she awoke, her
mother was away, probably killed and thrown into the water. An Arab little girl
came to the place, where Elmast was lying on the ground crying for her mother.
She brought her to the tents of her parenst and Elmast remained twelve years
with those people. One day an Armenian chauffeur saw her and brought her to
Tel-Abiat from where she was sent on to us.
