He was exiled with his
parents. On the road his father had been killed and his mother was taken to an
Arab's house. The Arab married her, mother and child remained many years there,
then his mother became ill and died. After his mother's death his step-father
began to treat him very ill. Hovsep could not endure the ill-treatment and he
fled twice, but was brought back again. An Armenian woman who was married to an
Arab in the same village, pitied the litle boy and secretely arranged his
escape, paying some Medjidies to an Armenian chauffeur, who took him by his
side and brought him directly to us.
