Shortly after his father’s death the Armenian deportation started and Tovmas was deported with his mother, sister and two brothers. On the road a Kourd from Maise took him apart and kept him five years in the village. Tovmas was working in a farm, but of course, without payment. He was illtreated by the Kourd and fled to another Kourdish family and worked four years for them. Several weeks ago he was told by an Armenian woman that his brother was alive in Constantinople. Tovmas fled from the Kourds and went to the Armenian Catholic priest in Mardin who sent him to Aleppo.
Tovmas could not obtain the permission to enter Constantinople, having no money and no relatives here, he came to us.
Left our care: May 1, 1924. Relatives.
