When the deportation began his family fled to Dersim. During nine months all the family was there, later they returned to their native town. After their arrival his father was killed, his mother died.

            The Russian army was occupying the region of Erzingian when Khachadur was deported to Malatia. He met a muleteer and asked him for a work, the Turk offered him the work of a muleteer.
