When the deportation started her father was in the Turkish Army. She was exiled with her mother to Chin-Polad. Her mother knew all the misery of the deportation and so she gave Araksi to a Kourd in order to safe the life of her only child and she went further on.

The Kourd was very poor and could not support her. Araksi lived on begging almost for 7 years. One day the Kourd took her to Urfa with the intention to sell her. Nobody wanted to buy this little girl and the Kourd did not wanted to bring her back to the village and so he left her alone in the streets of Urfa. Araksi begged again. One day an rich Turk took her to his house and she stayed there for four months.

An Armenian woman going to Aleppo took her to Aleppo and turned her over to us.

Araksi did not know anything about her relatives.

Araksi was received in the Near East Relief orphanage.
