Sarkis was working in a Kourdish shop when the deportation started. At noon he came home and found his house empty. He asked his Kourdish neighbour about his parents and he was told by him that all Armenians are deported. He returned to the shop and told his master what he had seen and heard. The Kourd kept him in his house for two years. As he was ill-treated he fled to a town named Hazro. There he found a place as a servant in a Kourdish family and he remained six years there.
Sarkis could not endure the Kourdish life and fled for ever from the Kourds. In Diarbekir he met some Armenian refugees who were coming to Aleppo, he joined them and came to Aleppo. Having no relatives he came to us and we took him in.
