Mariam
was deported together with her mother. In Veranshehir the latter died and a
Turk took possession of Mariam.
With
him she stayed many years not knowing where to flee to, but finally she heard
of the freedom which the Christians were enjoying in Syria, and she began to
look round for help to cross the frontier. This resulted in her getting into
contact with one of our agents in Syria, and he hired a man, who helped her to
enter the land of freedom.
When
she came to us, we found out that her father was living in Bagdad. How he has
managed to escape we do not know, but we were gald to be able to return his
daughter to him.
We have sent Mariam to Bagdad, her
father was found there.
