Ardash's family was exiled in the
direction of Aleppo - Deir-el-Zor. He was the only son of his parents. When the
caravan reached Khabur, a Tchetchen dragged the boy away from his parents. The
poor mother defended her child, but she was killed in the struggle and Ardash
was taken away. He remained there for many years and grew up as a Tchetchen.
After his stepfather's death his step-brother began to quarrel with him and
kicked him out of doors. Ardash wandered about in search of lodging. He reached
Ras-el-Ain from there by our agent he was sent to us.
