When the order of deportation came,
the whole family was exiled to Deir-el-Zor. His father was killed on the road,
his mother died in Deir-el-Zor, brother was lost and his sister was taken by an
Arab to his house, thus the tree was saved at the trunk. Haroutun was taken to
a neighbouring village but he could not remain longer there, because his master
was a bad one. He fled to another Arab tribe, named Shammar, where he lived
eleven years in great misery. Once he came to Hassitshe, where he met with our
agent and following his advise he came to us.
