Hayganoush's
father was dead, when she was exiled with her mother and two brothers to
Aleppo. There the mother became ill and died. The caravan went in the direction
of Deir-el-Zor. Always further and further on the poor people were driven,
until they came near Mosul. There an Arab dragged Hayganoush out of the caravan
and brought her to his house in Tel-Afar. After a year he married her to his
servant a young Armenian. Newly he became ill and died. Hayganoush, who feared
that her master would give her to one of his Islam servants, fled and reached Mosul.
There she went to our helper, who sent her per motor-car on to our rescue-home
in Aleppo.
Left our care: June 28, 1927. Selfsupporting, servant.
Came back, left again January 31, 1928.
