Khanim was on a change of air in Arek when the door of her room was opened by a policeman who told her to prepare herself for the deportation that would take place after a few hours. Khanim was in the house of her grandparents and was deported with them. She could not even return to her parents because the caravan was directed on another side. In Zoommar the caravan was attacked by Kourds who killed most of the Armenians. Khanim and some other girls were taken to village and married to Kourds.
However, Khanim lived nine years with her Kourdish husband who illtreated her most of the time. Once she heard about the Armenian priest in Mardin, she fled from the Turkish territory with the help of the priest to Syria. One Hassitshe agent met her in the village and sent her by motorcar to this city.
