Her
one sister was married to an Armenian in Mardin and she had gone to visit her
sister. Being there Turkey declared war against the allied powers and the
Armenian massacres or deportation began. Djelile could not return to her house
and was deported with her sister. Near the village Derik the Kurds of the
different villages attacked the caravan. Djelile with her sister were taken to
Derik, where both of them were married by force to the Kurds. She lived eleven
years with her owner then fled to Mardin and was sheltered in a priest's house
from where she succeeded in coming to our Hassitshe agent who sent her per auto
to us.
