Hovhannes' father was killed during the deportation. He himself was deported with his mother. On the road he was taken away from the latter and dragged to a Kourdish village where he lived three years as a farmer.
Hovhannes fled from the Kourd and went to Malatia. He could not find any Armenian family where he could be sheltered. He could not support himself and he went to a Turkish family. Within a few months his master adopted him as his son and after this he was treated very nicely.
Armenians were allowed to leave Turkey and many were passing Malatia. Hovhannes asked his master to let him go, the Turk agreed and Hovhannes came with them to Aleppo.
As far as we know he has no relatives.
Hovhannes learned a trade and became selfsupporting.
Left our care: June 1, 1923. Selfsupporting, trade.
