His father died before the war.
Mikayel was deported with his two brothers and one sister. The sister was taken
by a Turk into his house in her native town. The rest of the family came on the
road. Near Malatia the caravan was attacked and scattered. Mikayel came into
the possession of a Kurd, for whom he worked eleven years as a farmer. When
permission was granted to the Armenians to leave Turkey, he joined a caravan
passing their city. He reached Aleppo in a poor condition. We took him into our
reception-house.
