PICTURE

Her father was a lawyer in Paloo. He was well known by the Turkish government and he even acted several times as governor during the absence of the Turkish governor. However, 15 days before the Armenian deportation he was put in prison and after killed near Paloo.

Ovsanna's husband and brother were killed a few days afterwards. The Armenian deportation started but Ovsanna was not deported because some Turkish official wanted to marry her. Ovsanna resisted with all her power. Later an officer came and married her by force and went to Mardin taking her along. Her husband was changing his place quite often and always took her with him. From Mardin she wanted to flee but she did not succeed, later they went to Ras-el-Ain and after two years they returned to Mardin. At once her husband became ill and died. Ovsanna was relieved and fled to the Armenian priest, who sent her on horseback to Hassitshe. Our agent met her on the road and took her to Der-el-Zor and from there she came to Aleppo.

We located her mother and one brother here in Aleppo.
