Hagop
was deported with his parents and two sisters. Near Marash his mother became
ill and could not walk any longer, so they had to leave her on the road.
Hagop was sent further on with
his father and sisters to Deir-el-Zor. There the two sisters became ill and
died, and his father was killed.
Later Hagop was sent with the
remainder of the caravan to another city. On the road he was taken away by an
Arab from the Shemmar tribe. He was there but one month, then he was sold to
another Arab, where he remained 10 years as a shepherd.
He was always longing for his
nation, so one day he asked permission from his master to leave for Aleppo. The
Arab being a good man allowed him, and Hagop came to us.
