His father died before the war. Bedros was deported with his mother and little sisters to Baker-Maden. He himself was taken away by force, a Turk took him to his house and later to his farm.

Bedros lived four years as a farmer in Baker Maden. He never heard anything from the rest of his family who were sent further. He was treated very badly and so he fled to Itshmi a little town six hours far from Harpoot. There he became the servant of a Turk who promised him to give him a good salary. After three years he asked his master for his salary but the latter refused to pay him.

Bedros fled again but joined this time some muleteers who were coming to Aleppo. He made himself useful to them, so they took him to Aleppo.
