PICTURE

After the Turks had killed her father, she was deported with her mother, brother, and sister to a village near Adiaman. Shortly after their arrival her mother became ill and died.

Araksi and her sister were taken to different Turkish houses. Both of them came to Mezreh not far from their native town. The Turks who had taken them were living there. Araksi was living four years as a servant, later when she grew up a little the Turk married her so she lived four more years with him. Once her husband was coming to Aleppo, she asked him to take her with him, promising him that she would return with him. The Turk agreed and they came together to this city. Not far from Aleppo they stopped at an inn. Some Armenian merchants were there, they heard about Araksi. They had a chance to talk with her. They proposed her to follow them if she wanted to return to her nation. Araksi accepted and the merchants brought her to us.
