Hayganoush
was deported with her husband and her brother in law. From Marash they were
sent to Aintab, afterwards to Biredjik and from there along the Euphrates to
the Syrian desert, until they reached the region of Khabur. There the men and
older boys were separated from the caravan and killed by the Circassians.
Hayganoush was sitting near the river days long without eating or drinking
anything. She did not like to live after the death of her husband. Any menace
could not threaten her.
An
Arab came and wanted to marry her. She refused but could not defend herself
against the outrage. She went to the chief of the tribe and asked him to permit
to become his servant. Sheikh Dohem accepted the offer and so she stayed twelve
years by that man, then she met a young Armenian, who helped her to flee to us.
Hayganush often came back in the rescue-home on account of sickness.
Left our care: October 14, 1927. Selfsupporting,
servant.
1929 Mother in an orphanage in Muslime.
Married in Aleppo 1930.
