His father died before the deportation. Abraham was deported with his mother to Diarbeker where a Turk took both of them to his house under the condition that they will be his servants.
Mother and son desired to flee but they were not able to make the necessary arrangements. An Armenian young man who was the Turk's secretary was going to Aleppo. He informed Abraham and his mother of the fact and proposed them to leave the place immediately and that they should wait for him on the road. So they did, the Armenian came with his carriage and took both of them in and surmounting many difficulties they succeeded in reaching this city.
Abraham was received in the orphanage of the Near East Relief.
