In the beginning of the Armenian
massacres he was exiled with his parents, one sister and one brother to
Deir-el-Zor.On the road his parents died. On reaching the town his sister and
brother fell down too. An Arab took Garabed to his tent and adopted him as his
child. The tribe to whom his master belonged went into the desert near Basra
where he had to remain eleven years with them. After that time the tribe left
for Mosul. There the opportunity appeard to Garabed to return to his own
nation. Once, at night he made his way towards the city and after two day's
walking he reached there and fortunately he found some of his countrymen who
