Her parents were killed in the beginning of the Great
War. Heranoush and her three brothers, Harutiun, Kaloust and Geragos came with
a caravan to Deir-el-Zor and further on to Khabur where the massacres mostly
took place. Her three brothers were killed in a cruel way. An Arab from the
Abou Bedron tribe called Mehmoud-el-Ahmed dragged her to his tent and married
her. Twelve years she became his slave and was illtreated. At last she could
not mere endure the treatment she was subject to and leaving her two little
ones by their father, she fled to Mosul from where our agent sent her on to us.
Left our care: December 12, 1927.
Received in the asylum of the Armenian Church.
