Her father was killed in the beginning of the war. She, with her mother, two brothers were exiled to Arabkir. There she lost her two brothers, later [the] children were separated from their parents and given to different families.
Elmas was sent to Dersim and fled with another Armenian girl 3 years afterwards to Agin. There she entered a Turkish family as a servant. After five years she was married to a Turk. Six months after her marriage her husband was taken to the Turkish army.
Elmas did profit of this chance and fled from the Turk's house, joined a caravan of emigrating Armenians and came to this city. Having no relatives and being unable to support herself she came to us.
