Mariam was deported with her parents and brothers. When the caravan passed a river, Kourds attacked them and killed most of them. Women and children were thrown in the river. Only a few nice girls were separated and taken in the Kourdish houses of a proach (near) village.
Mariam's sister was married to a Kourd and she herself was kept in the same house. After 2 years her sister died and Mariam was adopted as child in another family.
By and by Mariam understood that she is an Armenian and her only desire was to return to her family's nation. She knew some Armenian family in Malatia and she fled at night there. The Armenian family in Malatia collected the necessary money for her journey and send her to this city.
