His
father died before the war, his mother married again. Hovhannes lived by his
uncle, once they both set out for a neighbouring village. On the road they met
with Kurds who killed his uncle and took him to their village. By good luck, he
was not illtreated there. He remained 10 years there till an Armenian visited
the village and recognized him. He persuaded Hovhannes to go with him. In
midnight they fled to Hassitshe, where he remained a few months, then was sent
to us.
