Her father was killed in the beginning of the Armenian massacres. She with her mother and sister were exiled. About three hours from the village a Turk came and took her by force to his house. She does not know what happened to her mother and sister.

            Mariam lived four years with the Turk's family. Later she was received in the Armenican orphanage in Harpoot. After two years she was discharged because she was too old to be kept in the orphanage. (This according to the order of the Mustafa Kemal government.) She had no relatives there and no money to cover her daily expenses, she had to become a servant. Armenians were too poor to keep her and so she went to a Turkish family and lived two years there.

            When Armenians were emigrating for Aleppo, she joined a caravan and came to this town. She is not able to support herself and so we are taking care of her.

Mariam's uncle is in America.

            Found a place as a servant and left.
