His father was taken as a soldier in the Turkish army and
disappeared. George was exiled with his mother and a little sister, who
succumbed on the road. When they reached Diarbekir his mother succeeded in
slipping out of the caravan, when it was driven further on. Two years she
earned her living by working in different Turkish families, then she returned
with George to Severek. After some months she died, and George stayed with his
aunt two years, then he was sent with a caravan to Urfa. There a Turk got hold
of him and eight years he served him. Newly an Armenian Chauffeur met with him
and persuaded him to go to our rescue-home in Aleppo.
