His mother died before the war and
his father was killed during the deportation. He and his sister came on the
road with his uncle. His uncle gave both of them to a Turk in Veranshehir in
order to save them from further sufferings. His sister fell ill and died, while
Roupen lived eleven years with the Turks. One day he got information that his
uncle was still living in Aleppo. He left the Turk's house and accompanied by
some muleteers he reached Biredjik and then to Arabpounar. Our agent took pity
upon his wretched appearance and sent him to us.
