The whole family was deported to Meskene. His parents and his sister died there. After his family's death he went to Sabuka. An Arab took him to his house in Souroudj where he lived two years. The Arab was too poor to support him and so Khatchig went to a Kourdish house where he lived five years as a shepherd.
The Kourd did not pay him anything for his work, Khatchig decided to flee but he was waiting for a chance. When Greeks were emigrating to Aleppo he fled from the Kourd joined a party and came with them to Aleppo.
His elder brother is in Constantinople.
