The whole family was deported, her father was killed in Keuy Nuok and the rest went on to Baker-Maden. Vartanoush was taken to a Turkish house where she was a servant for seven years and her mother was dragged away by some Kourds. Vartanoosh never heard about her mother.
A Greek woman was working in the same house with Vartanoush. When she understood that Vartanoosh was an Armenian girl she wanted to safe her. The Greek woman persuaded her that her mother was in Harpoot and she promised her to take her there if Vartanoosh would follow her. The latter agreed and they fled both together to a Greek family in this town. Vartanoosh was dressed like a Greek paysan and started with the Greek women her journey. In fact the women didn't know where Vartanoosh's mother was, but this was the only way to persuade Vartanoush to flee. They took not the direction of Harpoot's but they came after travelling 10 days to Aleppo. Vartanoosh was looking for her mother here in Aleppo but she could not locate her, and so she came to us and we received her in our house.
As far as we know she has no relatives.
Later the mother came to Aleppo and she went to live with her, at the same time she is supporting herself with embroidery.
