When the deportation started the Turks attacked the
Armenian quarter. A regular war began which lasted with the defeat of the
Armenians and the quarter was burnt. Many of those unfortunate people were
burnt alive, many more were killed, the women and girls were taken to the
Harems and by force married to the Turks.
The survivors were collected and
were sent away to die in the deserts of Der-el-Zor. Poor Bedros was among the
latters but on reaching Mediat, he was taken by a Kürd to his house, in this
way he lost his parents and he does not know what happened to them.
Bedros lived 12 years among the
Kürds but remembered always that he was an Armenian. He fled once and reached
Karaman, where he met with some Armenian soldiers serving in the French Army.
They helped him to reach Hassitshe, where per auto he was sent to us.
